Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part Two (MCCQE 2)

This is an exam which must be successfully completed to ensure licensing in the full class for independent clinical practice in BC. Over two days, (for a total of 3.5 hours), this exam assesses your clinical competency through a series of clinical simulation stations.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Before taking this exam, you must have passed MCCQE 1 and completed at least 12 months of clinical training.
  • If you hold a complete set of US licensing examinations (all steps of USMLEs, FLEX, COMLEX, or NBME) you do not need to sit any MCC examinations, including the MCCQE1 and the MCCQE2.
  • There is limited capacity for each exam.
  • Information about application and eligibility is available here.

LICENTIATE OF THE MEDICAL COUNCIL OF CANADA

This is the certification received once you have passed the MCCQE 1 and 2 examinations.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • After you have passed the MCCQE 1 and 2 exams, you will receive certification as a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).
  • A certificate will be issued and you will be enrolled in the Canadian Medical Register as a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada.
  • It is not a licence to practice medicine as this has to be issued by the regulatory body of the province where you are practicing or hope to practice (CPSBC in British Columbia).
