Transition in Practice Program

The University of British Columbia’s Transition into Practice Program is offered to make the change from being a medical resident to being an independent practitioner smooth and less stressful. The program offers valuable information about practice management, job finding, practice management, and more. For more information click here.

Residents are encouraged to participate in as many Transition into Practice activities as possible:

  • Check out the monthly Transition Tuesdays one-hour evening sessions with experts on key topics for residents. Dinner is included.
  • Attend the practice management sessions for ‘need to know’ information about billing, setting up an office and selecting an EMR.
  • Review the list of resources with organizations that can help with your transition.
  • Try to schedule time to take in as much of the Transition into Practice program as early in your training as possible.
