Full License and Registration

Well done! You are now ready to look for a job or to go out there and practice in BC. Fully licensed family physicians registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC are permitted to practice medicine in a community of their choice without sponsorship or supervision.

Remember, there are many supports help you have a fulfilling experience as a general practitioner in BC. These supports include local Divisions of Family Practice and their partners who can help transition to your new practice by connecting you with the medical and greater community.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • You will be required to renew your license every year through an online renewal system.
  • License renewal involves completing a questionnaire, confirming compliance with CME. (Continuing Medical Education) requirements, and paying a renewal fee
  • Be sure to pay your renewal fee by the deadline.
  • After you renew your license you can continue practicing medicine and can continue to charge for your medical services.
