Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination

This exam must be taken to practice medicine in Canada if you are graduating or graduated from a medical school outside Canada which is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.

About the exam:

EXEMPTION FROM THE MCCEE EXAMINATION

You may be eligible for an exemption from sitting this exam if you graduated from a Canadian medical school or obtained the CCFP without examination (via reciprocity). If you determine that you are eligibile for this exemption, you will need to apply for certification to sit the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part 1:

  • You must be certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada or a member of the American Board of Specialties
  • You must be a graduate from a medical school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools
  • You will need an account at physiciansapply.ca
  • In the portal you will need to apply for a Source Verification Request if not done so already
  • Apply for an exemption, pay the fee and submit your certificate

Applicants who hold a complete set of US licensing examinations (USMLEs, FLEX, COMLEX, or NBME) do not need to sit any MCC examinations, including the MCCEE.
